Vegas Brown, MD is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with more than two decades of clinical and academic experience. He serves as Core Faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital and holds the appointment of Associate Professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Brown serves as Simulation Director for the HCA Florida Brandon Emergency Medicine Department, where he leads the development and implementation of advanced simulation-based education for physicians in training.
A native of Sarasota, Florida, Dr. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Florida before pursuing his medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University/Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, a program recognized for its rigorous clinical training and exposure to complex urban emergency care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Brown has remained deeply committed to the dual missions of clinical excellence and medical education. As an educator and mentor, he plays an integral role in training the next generation of emergency physicians, with particular emphasis on simulation-based learning, clinical decision-making, and physician wellness. His leadership in medical simulation has helped strengthen experiential learning environments that enhance patient safety, procedural competence, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Brown values the importance of family and personal balance. He is happily married and the proud father of two children, and he maintains a strong commitment to community, mentorship, and lifelong learning.
